Clubs & Societies

Topsham has an active community with various organisations, clubs and societies which work to improve our town and help the people who live, work and visit here. Topsham has a wide range of facilities too, some of which have dedicated clubs and/or voluntary organisations which support them.

  • Cafe Lingua
    Every Thursday 6.30-8.30pm, Route 2 Cafe Bar: free language club, everyone welcome. Come along and practice your language skills and socialise, try international dishes. In partnership with St Peters Language College.

  • Drum for Fun
    Come and try Taiko drumming at Matthews Hall
    Wednesday mornings, 10.30-11.45, starting 29th September

  • Estuary Players
    Topsham-based amateur dramatic society
  • Exe Decorative and Fine Arts Society
    ExeDFAS meets on the second Thursday of the month at 10.30 am from September to June in Matthews Hall. The lectures are on a variety of subjects such as architecture, painting, music, ceramics etc. There are also two study days and three visits (e.g. to National Trust properties or houses which are not usually open to the public). Once a year a 5/6 day foreign tour is arranged.
  • Exeter Alternative Theatre
    "A new theatre production company formed in January 2010. Our key ethos is to bring together creatively diverse, dynamic and talented individuals to stage an eclectic range of alternative theatre. We strive to push the boundaries of conventional theatre."
  • Exeter Camera Club
    Matthews Hall, during the winter months, meetings at 7.30pm Thursdays. Members use a variety of techniques, from b&w darkroom processing via transparencies to the latest digital technology. Visitors and prospective members welcome. Contact Ken Barrett (01392 877475)
  • Exeter Electronic Organ Club
    Meets at Matthews Hall at 7.00pm on the first Thursday of each month (second Thursday in May, due to elections). It features two-hour concerts, starting at 7.45pm, by some of the the UK's top professional electronic organists.
  • Line Dancing: Matthews Hall, 7pm-10pm Mondays (beginners' session at 7pm). Contact: Estelle on 07759797571.

  • Topsham Sailing Club
  • Topsham St James Cricket Club
    Based at Bonfire Field in the heart of the Topsham community, this family-orientated cricket club offers competitive and social cricket for all standards of men, ladies and children from the age of 7 years. During the summer, training nights are held on Wednesdays (Ladies), Thursdays (men and U15s) and Fridays (U10-U14s). There is also a large programme of social events throughtout the year.   • TBNS
    Topsham Birdwatching & Naturalist Society:
    A society for those interested in the natural world around them, and in particular this area of Devon; activities comprise a mix of indoor illustrated talks and fieldtrips. Topsham Film Society was initiated in Spring 2004 and currently has over 200 members. It shows 10 films each year between October and March - high quality, mostly non-mainstream titles selected by its committee. It meets on the first Friday of each month in Matthews Hall, Topsham
